After 9 years of making MTAs the Beppy has become one of my personal favorites. The conception of the Beppy is quite funny: I built an aluminum master in 2015 and produced my first pieces. However, the tuning and airfoil were far from ideal, so after several tests and “accidents”, I was forced to redesign this master into a smaller windsailor version, closer to the Tobias WS. I ended up with the current Beppy shape, but I can tell you that the results were dissapointing at first.

Problems with leading edges, no stable hover, and floppiness due to low thickness. After several sessions in the field, I discovered that by precisely changing the internal weight distribution, I was able to correct some of the tuning flaws.(Thank you Georgi) But while Bepponas was already a consolidated model, ready to fly boomerang out of the mold, Beppy remained a side project, an enfant terrible, a wild horse. That’s why I rarely produced it for sale.

Years went by, and some of the few Beppys out there started to get podiums all over the world: US Nationals, Brazilian Nationals, WBCs and EBCs. This encouraged me to keep working on this model. The latest milestone came last year when some experimental changes in layup and materials showed a significant improvement in performance: climbing even higher and longer hangtime than regular Beppys. A small sacrifice in weight (+1 gram), but the results are solid in the absence of thermals.

👉Conclusion: After several years, this mold still surprises me. It is not an easy boomerang to throw, but in the right/experienced hands it is certainly a powerful WS. Because of the time it takes to “tame” each Beppy, large production is simply not an option. The saying applies here: ”Good things take time”

👉Note: Original Beppy master was sadly destroyed in 2024 while attempting to recreate a new Beppy mold.☠️.
I would also like to thank all the people who gave me their input or helped me to improve and test the Beppy over the years: Daniel Bower, Richard Bower, Hiroyuki Murata, Eduardo Mistico, Andrea Sgattoni, Manuel Schütz, and Alex Opri
